All vehicle rentals in Lanarkshire are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance information, applicable charges, and your responsibilities for the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements for Vehicle Rental
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Lanarkshire, you must be at least 21 years old. Note that age restrictions may vary based on the vehicle type, and additional fees may apply for drivers under 25. A valid full driving licence, held for the duration stated in the Rental Agreement, is required. You must also present valid identification, proof of your current address, and payment details along with a security deposit. Additional criteria may be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Lanarkshire office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment, along with a security deposit, is generally required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are in British Pounds (£) and inclusive of VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed by both parties. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling charges will be applied if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns may result in additional fees, so please communicate with us as soon as possible if a delay is anticipated. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or related charges incurred during your rental, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. You can find comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts in the Rental Agreement. Options for additional insurance may be available to limit your financial exposure. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, except when additional insurance is purchased. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse falls under your responsibility, regardless of existing insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show may incur additional fees.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- Usage of the vehicle is restricted to lawful purposes only. Activities such as racing, rallying, or off-roading are prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is forbidden. Operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs is prohibited. The vehicle must not be used for purposes it is not designed for, and passenger or weight limits must not be exceeded. Driving outside the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
8. Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by Scottish law, Car Hire in Lanarkshire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is limited to the amount paid for the rental in the past year. This limitation does not affect our liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Scotland. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of Scottish courts.
Changes to Terms of Service
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon publication on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
