Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This agreement outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your obligations for the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria

- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Lanarkshire, you must be at least 21 years old, though this may differ based on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for drivers under 25. You need a valid driving licence suitable for the vehicle category, held for the period outlined in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of your current address are required, along with payment information and a security deposit. Additional conditions may be specified in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or at our Lanarkshire office. A booking deposit may be necessary to confirm your reservation. The remaining balance and security deposit are generally payable at the time of vehicle pick-up. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be created and must be signed by both parties. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as it was collected, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level. If the fuel level is lower than at pickup, refueling charges will apply. Late returns may result in extra fees, so please notify us promptly if you anticipate returning the vehicle later than agreed. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during the rental period, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability in Lanarkshire
- All rental vehicles come with basic third-party insurance included. Full details, including excess amounts, can be found in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to limit your financial exposure. It is important to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, except when covered by extra insurance. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms is your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.
6. Changes and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in hazardous practices. Transporting dangerous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting to others or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should only serve its intended purpose, and passenger or weight limits must not be exceeded. Travel beyond the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by Scottish law, Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, nor for loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the amount you paid for your rental in the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Local Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of Scotland. Any disputes will be resolved exclusively in Scottish courts.
10. Amendments to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
